General discussion

Will it be fixed or replaced? (Laptop spill)

Aug 31, 2009 11:23AM PDT

I have an insperion 1750.
It is still under warranty. I spilled unsweetened iced tea in it, and it died.
Dell is having me send it in.
Do you think they will repair it or replace it completely?
Of course my biggest concern is the hard drive, and all the info I had on it.
I'm not sure if a spill just shorts out the motherboard or what. I'm pretty certain that hard drives are sealed.

Yikes.

All the machines I've sent in get a fresh factory load installed. Ouch!

Bummer

So they probably won't put the old hard drive into the fresh reload?

Ask Dell.

This is the Cnet Dell forum so while I know what I've seen happen and why, your question should be direct to Dell where you sent the machine.
