Will Home and Student Office 2008 work with Exchange server?

by macnerd10 / October 15, 2009 5:42 AM PDT

As you know, there are several Office versions. The Professional and Special Media boast Exchange server support, whereas Home and Student does not have it. I wonder, what is it all about? Are there any special files that one can copy and enable this support? I could not find anything specific to this issue on my computer. Moreover, no direct reply from Google searches.

AFAIK. No issue.
by R. Proffitt Forum moderator / October 15, 2009 5:50 AM PDT and be sure to read all the links. For example shows you need more than Exchange server. Your IT staffer supplies you with the "Important If the mailbox resides on a computer that is running Microsoft Exchange Server 2007, you must provide the name of the computer that is performing the Client Access Server role."

Quite the minefield.

So, looks like it would work. I will give it a try. Of course, several significant Outlook for Windows functions will not be there, but they have not been implemented in all versions of Entourage 2008.
