Will CES lower prices.

I am looking into buying a new camera but I was wondering if I should wait and see if prices will fall in the next few weeks. Does this generally happen following CES?

Lower Prices

In reply to: Will CES lower prices.

CES usually has little effect on camera prices.

Camera prices were at the year low, just before Christmas.
Lots of good bargains.

However, there are likely to be a lot of new cameras announced during CES. There have been about 10 announced so far.

Lower prices for old models

In reply to: Will CES lower prices.

When the manufacturers start to selling (not announcing) "new" generation cameras, the "past" generations cameras start to falling prices until they will be out of stock. I bought a Canon Powershot A620 for $200 (In Amazon) after they started to sell the Powershot A630 and A640. But if You wait too long You will lost the oportunity forever. A friend of mine bought a Kodak P850 for less than $ 250.00 after the P712 reach the market. If you don't mind be the first in technology products, You may have better balance between prices and satisfaction.
