Answer
Processor speed alone doesn't tell the whole

picture like it used. Some of the new ultrabooks have 1.5 ghz processors but have all the modern buses and channels. Most of the time the will processor will be the least noticeable performance. You would probable get better performance on a 1.5 quad core then a 2.0 dual core but then again you have to be doing something that is really processing intensiv to notice.

Ranking 3 updates on how much they affect performance .

1. SSD like BoB says
2. Memory - helps with multi tasking because it you have lots of memory free task int eh background get store in memory and it you run out of memory background data is stored on disk in your pagefile. Memory speed is measured in GHZ and HD in MBPS.
3. processor only noticeable on large amounts of data.
