General discussion

will a DVD from the UK play on my US dvd player?

Dec 7, 2005 5:11AM PST

I am in America and really want to buy this music DVD from a British band but not sure if it will play on my DVD player. Its a Philips hts3400 surround sound unit. It says it plays PAL and NTCS format but I thought that just refers to the picture quality and not the region (its a region 2 disc). I have no idea if the player is multi region and did not see it anywhere in the manual (of course, I don't understand most of the technical stuff they say anyways). Any help would be much apreciated.

US is region 1, so no. There are s/w fixes or updates of sorts that help, but I normally don't get into that. These fixes suppose to work, but you're at your own risk. As Robert mention, google away. Just beware of what you're getting in to.
