To Tom & others
May 27, 2006 6:01AM PDT

Hi Tom: No I don't have any of those files in msconfig.

I think if I de-install all of the games from Add/Remove that are associated with WildTangent the EULA will go away. I'll give it a try anyway.

Just a note to all who were kind enough to reply: Sorry for not posting a new thread, but thought it would be easier for everyone to see what I had already tried/read from the 2004 thread (not realizing at the time that it was from 2004).

Thanks again to all who tried to help.

Hi Tom
May 27, 2006 10:57AM PDT

I guess I'm confused. I did check the Startup folder in msconfig and did not find the ''files'' or WildTangent. I also searched my PC for the ''files'' and WildTangent and nothing showed up.

Also went to Start/All Programs/StartUp and nothing there either. Is this what you wanted me to do? Since Spybot S&D and AdAware didn't find anything and I can't find anything on the PC I must be ok.

I wasn't so concerned about the EULA, but the fact that I THOUGHT WildTangent was pre-installed. The games were pre-installed but, evidently, you can't play them until you accept their EULA, which I'm not going to do.

Now to get rid of those games. There's 30 of them. I can see why a lot folks say to build your own PC. You get what you want and not a lot of junk.

Hope you're enjoying your weekend.

dx5drv.dll
dx7drv.dll

wtdmmpv.dll
wthostctl.dll

Hi Tom

One of the moderators was kind enough to send me an e-mail with the body of your message.

Unfortunately, I do not feel comfortable going into the registry.

I did do a search on the PC for the files listed in your message and found these four:

dx5drv.dll
dx7drv.dll
sound.dll
wdengine.dll

These files were in C:\Program files\Gem Master. Gem Master is another set of games that comes with Windows Media Player and it has the Wild Tangent EULA.

Gem Master is in Add/Remove Programs so I will uninstall it, and get rid of those files.

Thanks so much for all of your help.

Regards.

wild tangent & printers?
May 30, 2006 11:37PM PDT

WT was oem with my dell media center xp sp2, new 12/05. spybot(02-06) and spysweeper (05-06) both id'd it as spyware. and removed it. for now it sits in quarantine for 4 months. I don't play the games. I have not noticed any problems with my printer. of course until something calls for it; how would you know?

do you know if my dell 924 printer needs WT? or how to find out? thanks
