Wild Blue Broadband vs. TWC

Sep 11, 2008 12:37PM PDT

I presently have TWC internet service. My brother-in-law told me to change to wild blue internet service. I am not familiar with this service so I don't think that I should switch from my cable internet service to Satellite broadband.. or whatever it is.
Am I making the right choice?

I guess is that satellite will cost more. Are you having problem with TWC?

Wild Blue

I am not having trouble with my cable internet, neither is my brother-in-law computer literate. He is just looking for the best cost. since I have just had Dial up and calbe internet, I do not know the pros or cons of satellite connection.

On the con side.

Is the distance to and from the satellite which means no online gaming. This one is basic speed of light issues. The cost is not something you should ask (but do try?) here since we can't get you the right numbers.

IMHO there is no comparison between satallite and cable internet. I had cable internet, but moved to a rural area where it was not available. I purchased some HughesNet equip. and subscribed to satallite internet. It was horrible. The latency was almost a full second, which made live gaming impossible. The download speeds where bad too. On top of the service issues, I was paying $70/month. When comparing Wild Blue to other satallite providers, I have heard they are one of the better ones because they limit the amount of suscribers per satallite, which improves download speeds. But that still doesn't improve latency. Do your homework, but I suggest you stay with cable.
