Plan to play online?
360 is the easy choice then.
The 360 does have a great number of games out and coming out soon.

Yeh the 360 I think will be your ticket.
Just don't buy the core...
I hear price might drop soon!

Both

I thought hard about which one to get and came to the conclusion that I will eventually get both but for the time being I got a Wii.

My reasons for getting a Wii first:
I don't currently own a HDTV. I never owned a Gamecube and the Wii plays Gamecube games. I love the Wii controller. The current games out that interest me for 360 (and PS3) are primarily nothing more than prettier versions of similar games I already have for the PS2, Xbox, and/or PC.

Arguments against the Wii:
Controls don't always work that well (but this might improve as developers become more accustomed to programming for the Wii). The only 2 really killer games (besides the Wii Sports pack in) IMO so far are Twilight Princess and Resident Evil 4 and both are available for the Gamecube.

I'm holding out on getting a 360 (and/or a PS3) until the price drops a bit more and I get an HDTV.

Halo 3

Halo 3 is reason enough to get a 360. The online play will be amazing.

I have a 360 and a Wii and I barely play my Wii after I beat Zelda: TP. Most of the recent Wii releases have been kiddie games and I don't want to buy Resident Evil: 4 since it is an old game ported to the Wii. Mario Kart Wii needs to hurry up and get here.

360 vs. Wii

interesting, mr. bearvp.

The general media mags have been raving about the Wii for a year. Yeah, it's a great machine. But it's harder to hear of someone like you. Who's compared it with the 360 and likes the 360 more.

good feedback

I have both

I have both a Wii and a 360. I like them both.

But if you're a "hardcore" gamer, I'd definitely get the xbox before i got the wii (which is what I did).

The wii, with it's unique control system, is often "fun and creative", but it can also be gimmiky and frustrating, and it doesn't lend itself very well to certain types of *conventional* games, such as shooters and sports games. And if you've already dropped the $$$ on an HDTV, don't limit your gaming experience to merely 480p. Step it up to true HD.

The wii is fun, but I'd just never go that route if I was only looking to buy ONE AND ONLY ONE of the next-gen consoles. It just has to many weaknesses, from the lack of HD gaming, to the lack of online play, to the lack of a built-in entrance-way into the HD-DVD world. It's fun for what it is, but the 360 is a more well-rounded, conventional, modern console.

I agree

The Wii is a great secondary console to have but it really cannot stand up to the 360 if you could only have one console. The game selection is more oriented for kids and the graphics leave much to be desired, especially if you plan on using it on a HDTV (like I am).

Also, the motion sensing is a great idea and works pretty well in games that precision is not that important but for sports games (like Tiger Woods) and FPS like COD, the developers have not gotten rid of annoying bugs like swinging when you didn't mean to (golf) and quick strafing and turning in close-combat (COD).

And with Halo 3 coming out...is anyone going to even play a Wii game from September to November?

360
Jul 19, 2007 3:28PM PDT

Dude if you like serious gaming then 360 is your choice hands down. Solid LIVE options and a huge array of games coming during then next few months like Halo3, Assassin's Creed, GTA4, Bioshock etc. And for now there are great titles like Gears of War, Saints Row, GRAW 2, Lost Planet, Tiberium Wars, The Darkness, Overlord, Oblivion to spend your time.

Wii on the other hand has a kinda not SO seroius line up of games. But if your into Mario type of games then your choice mate.

Wii online is coming, don't complain.

Everyone gave a year for the Xbox to have Online, so give the wii some time. They are starting to have online. In 4 days, we will have Mario strikers charged, random AND friend battles. If they remove the friend code, i'd be much better though. And Madden 08, Fifa and NBA is starting to have online this year. Also, Medal of Honor has 32 players online on the wii. And it's not only Mario. Guilty gear, Dragon Quest Swords, Brothers in arms, Bully, and even Manhunt 2. So, wii does deliver, but it's really your choice in the end.

Friend code
Jul 26, 2007 12:19AM PDT

I think that Friend code is the worst online idea ever. Just let people make a unique username because no one can remember their friend codes. I hope that the Wii online runs smoothly. I would wait to see if it runs as efficiently as XBL before I say it 'delivers' though. It could be terrible.
