It depends if your DVD player deinterlaces/upconverts a signal before passing it on. What kind of DVD player do you have?

Only if...

You will only get that effect if the DVD player does upconverting of the signals, and while they may do deinterlacing to get 480p instead of 480i, I highly doubt it will touch the audio at all. You could pass the audio through a surround receiver, and do it that way, but seems like a lot of work for little gain.

I have a Panasonic es45vs. Would it work if I just ran the two audio component cables to the receiver than the 3 video to the tv? or will the other way work?

That might work

Though I'm not entirely positive the Wii will even do 480p. I know the hardware is capable of it, I'm just not sure if Nintendo bothered to put it into the firmware, since they're not really targeting people that would be concerned with such things. So it's probably up to individual games whether or not to include progressive scan support.

If it does support 480p, and your TV supports 480p, and you directly connect the three video cables to the TV from the Wii, you should be able to get 480p, if the game supports it.

The Wii will do 480p if you buy the component cable accessory, but not all Wii games support 480p.
