Question

WiFi Speed Problems

Sep 7, 2016 8:32PM PDT

So, just recently moved into an apartment complex. The complex provides free internet via an ethernet port in the wall. If you pay extra (i do) your ethernet port runs off of the FiberOptic internet going to the complex. When i first moved in 2 weeks ago my download speeds were in the 50mbps. Just a couple days ago they went down the toilet to about 4mbps and 5ish upload. I have ran WifiInfoView to change my channel. I am the only one in range on 161 at 5Ghz. I plugged into the ethernet port in the wall and im pulling mid 50mbps like normal. As soon as I go to wireless everything takes a dump. Does anyone have anything else to try?

It's not a system under your control so they need to support it.

There are factors affecting the Wifi Speed/Internet Speed.
* Find the Perfect Spot for Your Router
*Thwart Wi-Fi Thieves with Better Security
* Control Bandwidth-Hogging Applications
* Increase Your Wi-Fi Range with DIY Tricks (It's amazing what a few sheets of tinfoil can do for the strength of your wireless signal.)
*Turn an Old Router Into a Wi-Fi Repeater
