Question

Wifi: laptop has internet but phone/tablets no internet

From wifi access point, laptop connects to wifi and has internet.
But phone/tablets while showing connect to wifi but NO internet.

Sometimes phone/tablet show speedtest or youtube, but next time NO internet again.
I guess somehow phone/tablets are not getting DNS server??
I tried all suggestions, Forget network, reconnect, factory reset, (turn off wifi, set to static, turn on wifi, no static again), etc...

But then some phone/tablets connect to internet, no problem.
It seem whether iPhone or Android, some work and some don;t.

This connect to wifi but NO internet is a big headache.

Actually very similar problem of DNS server not found.
In laptop I can go into change IPv4 properties but phone/tablet, I don't know how? or if even possible.
Maybe phone/tablet problem is not DNS?

All I know is both have NO internet problem.
So I posted phone/tablet problem separately.

I think ultimately DNS server is not found.

As I noted in the other post

Today, things have changed. Not only do I have to enter the IPv4 DNS but one for iPv6 use.

Because that's a lot of work I always turn my attention back to the router or device that is handling DHCP.

Just another thing to check is the date and time all around since for WPA2 that matters.

Also from same wifi access point, laptop speedtest show full 25mbps, yet phone/tablet show 20-25mbps then 10-15mbps then below 10mbps then back to 25 mbps..it seem to change everytime speedtest is run, But laptop is always steady 25mbps

Is this still DNS problem? or nature(fluctuating mbps) of wifi and phone/tablet?

Try using a different Wifi Channel

In reply to: Wifi: laptop has internet but phone/tablets no internet

I would recommend using a different Wifi channel for your home network. Likely, the speed fluctuations to your phone/tablet are occurring due to channel traffic congestion. The 3 channels used for Wifi are 1, 6 and 11.
