wifi iPod touch to Mac Pro question

by vidyman / March 25, 2009 9:12 AM PDT

OK I'm having a brain block with this. I would like use the wifi of my iPod touch to access stuff on my mac pro. I don't have air port so I wonder if I can buy a third party solution and if I do, do I have to buy a cable modem, or can I just get some thing that plugs right in to the mac pro.

Don't believe that is an option

The only way to move stuff from your Mac Pro to the Touch is through the iTunes software.

As far as I know, you cannot use the Touch to access files on another computer in the same way as you would if you used another computer.

I believe you will find an App that will enable the Touch to work as a remote for Front Row and, as it already accesses the internet via WiFi, you should be able to get to your facebook account, just not on your computer.

So what am I missing here?

my mac doesn't have wifi, my house doesn't either. I'm not sure if I need to buy a wifi modem (I have a triple pay deal with my cable company)or do I buy a wifi unit for the mac?

Get a wireless Modem from

your cable company, but if they do not provide one, then any wireless ROUTER will work for you too.

Just connect the Wireless Router directly to the Modem, the MacPro via ethernet to the Router, and the Touch will be wireless directly to the Router.

You could go wireless on the MacPro but that would involve 2 purchases and wireless is not essential for the MacPro

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
