I had that issue years ago

And called for it many times. The old Vista Broadcast Flag would cause routers to do that and I still see that today.

-> Is the router firmware current and all router settings stock except for the bare minimum?

So what happens when you install

In reply to: think so

The WiFi driver from Asus for your model?

In reply to: So what happens when you install

yeah we have both made sure the drivers for both laptops are up to date

Not what I asked or advised.

In reply to: done

Microsoft's Driver Update button is horribly broken. I wrote to do this manually. When folk respond they are up to date then we have to ask them how they know.

If this carries on, I'm going to call it "bad wifi card."

well the only way i know to check my drivers is to go to device manager and update them from their

Which is known to get the wrong driver and

In reply to: ok

Not work.

Use the driver from the web page for your laptop model.

Sorry if this sounds harsh. Just trying to get the usual out of the way because a hardware issue is costly. Drivers are still free.

this how we solved that

In reply to: wifi disconnects when laptop turns on

Two daughters, one with newer laptop in living room near modem and the one at her desktop screaming in her bedroom about no internet. So, I put this on the one in bedroom and peace was restored.

not the problem

In reply to: this how we solved that

its not a problem of low signal strength or that he is stealing speed from it its an issue with when he opens his laptop my laptop needs to restart its adapter

that's quite a strange one

In reply to: not the problem

I can honestly say in the years I've been in these forums, that's the first time I recall one adapter knocking another totally off on the other computer.

strange indeed

In reply to: that's quite a strange one

yeah this time everything was going fine and then all of a sudden a wikkia page open on my brothers laptop played a youtube add and it kicked me off. so yeah problem still not fixed

who runs the router in your home?

In reply to: strange indeed

Or do you have access to it's internal program? Probably can't connect by wifi, but can with ethernet cable. Look in QoS area and Firewall, and other setting places like Parental Control, wireless, and see if the wireless signal has been reduced from 100% setting. Also other settings may have users throttled, but check that with parents, just in case they did it.
