And we can't start looking at why you didn't get it working for simple reasons. Here's one. No mention of your router or host.
Hey guys, I've been working on setting up a captive portal start page for a public guest network, but I'm having some troubles getting it to work the way I want it to.
Basically, I want it to work the exact same way as the free wifi at starbucks. It works pretty much the same as starbucks on a desktop, where the captive portal dialog prompts you to agree to the terms & conditions, and then it takes you to the "welcome" page.
The problem comes in with mobile devices.
On a mobile device (in this case, iOS), upon connecting, it will prompt you to agree to the terms and conditions, and after accepting, will take you to the "welcome" page. The problem is, the welcome page opens up in a crippled version of the mobile browser. This 'browser' is more like a dialog window, and once you close it, you can never get back to it. Even if you so much as go to another app, you won't be able to go to it again.
We need our users to be able to get back to this page easily, without them having to know the actual url and type it into their browser manually.
The functionality for mobile devices at starbucks is this; user opens mobile browser, is presented with starbucks welcome page. This is essentially what we want. Very straight forward, very little effort on user's part.
If there is anyone who knows how to get this sort of functionality out of a captive portal, your help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
