Question

wifi connected but cannot browse

The 10 inch notebook that was connected and working fine on my last network, will not work on my new network. Shows that wifi is connected and signal strength is excellent, but on both firefox and chrome error message states "server not found". Tech support with provider could not solve problem. Any ideas?

Answer
ISP

If you simply connect the wifi to a power then it will start to route and your device will get connected and the signal strength will be excellent. So, your wifi router is fine. The problem seems to be with the internet connection. If the internet service provider (ISP) can't help you then ask them to send a different guy to you.

Answer
Server not found means

it can't find the website your trying to go to. It's down for some reason. Can you go to any websites. Try www.microsoft.com

Test at this site to see if it's down.

Still not working...

Thanks for all your replies. I have tried many browsers and websites including the above mentioned but get the same message; "server not found". My wifi connection says excellent strength @ 65mbps. I am at a loss. The tech for my service provider said it must be a computer problem and gave up. But it was working well less than a week ago and everything else seems fine. I may need to post on wifi and networking.
Thanks Again,
richard

Just a few questions.

1. Is the WiFi set to WEP or WPA2?
2. Is the date/time set correctly on the PC?
3. Any expired antivirus suites? (known to cause the above)
