Wifi antenna that attaches to existing coaxial cable

Mar 13, 2006 3:47AM PST

Like a regular TV cable. I cannot run a new ethernet cable through the existing finished walls and floor from the main floor to the basement to connect my computers. I think I remember seeing a wifi antenna that connects to a coaxial (cable TV) outlet at each end to carry the wifi signal through floors and walls. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
thanks

router not reach through those walls? Some will increase the range with extra long antenna or directional dishes. Others may go to a Pre-N/MiMo type router.

you dont have a wireless accesspoint?

If you already have one, and connect the antenna to the basement, then how you will connect your main floor wireless computer/laptop -- remember the antenna is in the basement -?

If you don't need any wireless signal in the main floor, why don't you just put the Accesspoint in the basement?

Interesting huh...??

So I don't have high speed internet access at all. All I want to do is set up a small LAN to share files, printer and allow head to head gaming in my house. The upstairs computer is in the office and downstairs is a home theater PC. I thought I could get something to attach the wireless router to the coax cable in the wall which really just acts as a really long cable to the antenna in the basement (right next to my HTPC). I just can't remember where I have seen it.

Wow, I never knew those existed.....Maybe because The wireless output from the router is more than enough for both floors and the yard - But hell, if it works.....Then I say, go for it.
