Wide Screen top and bottom bars

Feb 2, 2005 4:22AM PST

I bought a Sony 32inch LCD HDTV Moniter 16:9.

My impression was, once you get a 16:9 ratio, there will not be any wide screen black bars on top and bottom of the screen. But I still see them even with different picture mode options.

Is this normal and if it is than what's the point of buying a wide screen?
