Why won't speakers work in headphone jack of DVR?

Jan 20, 2005 10:55PM PST

I have 3 sets of small speakers that I have used with my PCs that I have tried to use with my new Digital Voice Recorder (DVR). 2 of the speakers will not work when plugged into the headphone jack on the DVR. The recorder ignores them and plays through it's built in speaker. One set of speakers works, but the sound quality is not as good as when attached to a PC. The jacks on these speakers are identical to each other and to the jacks used on headphones. Is there a reason why the DVR won't play through the speakers? Is there a type of speaker that WILL work? I need to allow a small group of people to hear these files and don't want to pass around a set of headphones. Please help!
