Why won't LG BP 330 play DVDs?

My LG BP 330 will not play standard DVDs. It ejects them several seconds after putting them in. Blu Ray disks play just fine. Could this be a software problem?

If old, well, repair is more than a new one. There are tomes on the web about how there are 2 LASERs so very unusual for it to be software.
