Why so slow???

Mar 9, 2005 4:39AM PST

Why is my 802.11g wirless laptop sooo much slower than my desktop which is connected directly to the router? My desktop averages about 3.5mbps while my laptop never gets above 1.0 mbps, even when it is right next to the router and getting 100% signal strength.

Anyone know why this would be?

Also, why does my "adapter speed" never get above 18-24 mbps, even though the 802.11g is supposed to be 54.0 mbps?

Thanks for your advice!

Tim
