No. I didn't say that, did I ?
May 13, 2007 1:02AM PDT

Did I say anything like that at all? Where do you get that?

What I asked was, in whole entire world, is there NO place where they could get free or cheap health care except from a sworn enemy of the US?

Is it not obvious that this is nothing but a stunt calculated to put the US in a bad light, as ALL of Moore's crap is (and to line his pockets as well)?

- Collapse -
you no more said that,, than i said
May 13, 2007 2:22AM PDT

i was buying into the propaganda....

i don't care who takes the 9/11 people anywhere, as far as i'm concerned the bottom line is they get some kind of treatment that they aren't getting as of now (for whatever reason)....

I agree. You didn't say you were buying into the propaganda.
May 13, 2007 2:37AM PDT

I said you were. You were and are.

Got it?

Let me ask this...
May 13, 2007 3:24AM PDT

If you substitute "Nazi Germany" for "Cuba" and "Hitler" for "Castro" would you still not have a problem with handing a propaganda victory to our enemy?

Remember, it has not been established or even claimed that this is the ONLY way these people would ever get treatment. It is clearly a cheap stunt designed to give Moore and Castro some good PR.

- Collapse -
you have to be joking (i hope!)
May 13, 2007 5:04AM PDT

"a propaganda victory to our enemy?"

what enemy? Castro/Cuba? gimme a break.....

and for what it's worth, IMO, an embargo based on a 40 year old memo is only making the US the laughing stock of the 'democratic world' it strives so hard to nourish.....

No, I am not joking...

if they get the same medical care that castro does?

In view of what I've already said, this whole thread is...

I'm a little suspicious of that 40% figure as well...
May 13, 2007 2:00AM PDT
law enforcement officers, transit workers, telecommunications workers, volunteers and others who worked at ground zero and at the Fresh Kills landfill, where debris was taken.

Are you telling me that 40% of these workers, many employed by the city, and most if not all undoubtedly Union members, were not covered by any insurance? Sorry, that does not seem credible to me. There's got to be a catch. I've worked in many offices in my life, for many employers and ALL of them offered medical coverage. I know that Unions insist on it.

Of course you can refuse to take it, but few do. I'm guessing there's more to this story than meets the eye.

NOTE also that that story is from September 2006.

I believe that only applies to imminent threats of death

from whatever injury or sickness.

An emergency room can't refuse to treat you, a doctors clinic can if you're not in immediate and critical stress.

I'm not sure an emergency room has to do more than examine you if you're not in critical need.

In other words, no long term treatment for problems.

It all depends on how each Hospital Administrator...

Neither would I if I could choose..

But I doubt that I would be able to make such a decision after a heart attack let's say and the closest hospital is the one with the hard *** admin...

I have...
May 15, 2007 10:17AM PDT

I have, and did the same in the place where I lived before. Before I called the fire department as the county ambulance service operated out of the fire station. Note: there was no charge for using the ambulance. they are supported by a tax. The ambulance was told to take me to the hospital from which my primary physician operated and notify that physician.
Now, in my current state it's basically the same thing. Although I haven't had another emergency yet, I'm pretty sure of how the drill would run. They guy next door broke his leg in his back yard. The fire department showed up with both an ambulance and a fire truck and the ambulance took him to the nearest hospital. I have no idea of why they also sent the fire truck. So if I had to go here I dare say that the fire department would transport me and the relative with whom I live would call my primary doctor to notify him.
Notifying the doctor is planning ahead of time, as is the case with many people I have had medical problems in the past.

If you were having a heart attack it wouldn't matter...
May 13, 2007 8:20PM PDT

No one would turn you away.

But there are people who use the Emergency Room for pretty much any complaint...as though it were routine care. And they get away with it in many cases.

Most of those don't have insurance

Point is...
May 14, 2007 10:46PM PDT

they don't have to go to Cuba to get free treatment.

Many are here illegally. They should not be here at all. Wonder what happens to people who break into Cuba illegally.

Last I heard, people were trying to get OUT.

everu hospital in the usa has to treat that
May 13, 2007 10:58PM PDT

then when your stable they may send you to a charity hospital

OK
May 14, 2007 12:23AM PDT

and since you can't be turned down in an emergency, you would be treated! My husband didn't have insurance in any of his last ER trips!
He was treated all 3 times!

Yet you'll end up with
May 13, 2007 2:57PM PDT

a hospital bill that is probably going to follow you for the rest of your life. I don't know and I hope I never have to figure it out either but if an uninsured person has to go to the ER for a stroke or heart attack, I belive that the surgery is very expensive as is the hospital bed where one might have to spend a couple of nights. Not to talk about the cost for ambulance! That alone costs about $450 here in NYC AFAIK. And for a person who doesn't have enough money for a decent health insurance that is A LOT of money!

- Collapse -
thats why they have write offs
May 13, 2007 11:00PM PDT

and the person can apply for charity care, also if they have a job every hospital will work out a payment plan

- Collapse -
We have no bills
May 14, 2007 12:29AM PDT

from the 3 stays for my husband! Catholic Social services paid for two stays and our state health program paid for his surgery! The can and do write off bills for a lot of people that can't pay. Why do you think a stay is so expensive? Those that can pay are picking up the cost for those that can't.

So why did Miichael Moore go to Cuba?
May 12, 2007 10:28PM PDT

To embarrass and put down the US, because he hates this country. Loves the money though.

THAT's the reality.
