Why is my internet connection slow all of the sudden?

Okay, first off, it's not my connection, I have the fastest connection there is, 50k kbps.

This morning, to help me focus on work, I turned off the router to keep me from checking Twitter.
When I turned it back on, Firefox lagged. I rebooted my computer, and when I opened Firefox again, my connection was extremely slow. I get this problem a lot, and wanr ro know why it happens to me.

Any help?
Thanks in advance.

It's the next test.

Connect directly to the router with ethernet cable for a test. If tests are unacceptable please note such in a reply so everyone knows.
