Why is my C Drive suddenly full on my new computer?!?!?

by ariesjow / January 28, 2010 10:00 AM PST

I purchased an HP Pavilion dv4-2045dx with Windows 7 from Best Buy less than a month ago on New Year's Eve. Before today, I had approximately 135GB of the 284GB free with everything transferred from my previous laptop.

This afternoon, I downloaded and deleted 4 or 5 video joiner programs trying to put together a video that's currently in 10 parts. I promptly uninstalled each program after I figured out they were not what I was looking for. A box stating my disk space is low appeared while attempting to join the video parts together with one of the programs I downloaded. I then checked my C drive space and discovered only a few MB of free space! In a panic, I restored my laptop to the setting from this morning but now only have 1.41 GB still.

What's going on with my computer?!? Is this a virus? I'm running a scan with my anti-virus but nothing is turning up.

I figured it out. The joiner program I downloaded made a 144gb video file! I deleted it and now my C drive is back to normal.
