Don't know exactly why but if you search around you find this observation across the internet. The theory is that this is a TV and not as powerful as your common laptop.
I have a new Samsung 46 inch smart tv. I set it up tonight with wired connection to my Xfinity internet. The tv settings confirm that my wired connection is completed and in place. I used cat 5 Ethernet cable to Lan port from the outlet in my wall that runs to my modem. Download on Xfinity speed test when I hook my laptop to the same cable shows 45-50. When I connect to internet on TV through the internet explorer app (which connects to MSN and Bing), I get Xfinity spped test reading showing 10-12 download speed.
What can account for that huge difference in download speed? Am I doing something wrong with the connection? As I mentioned, the tv network settings says wired connection completed.
I noticed the paper owners guide that came with the set says to use Cat 7 cable for the wired connection. Could that possibly be the issue when the same Cat 5 cable shows such high speed on my laptop?
Would appreciate any ideas.
