* What high-speed service do you have? Cable speeds are affected by the number of poeple online in your area at any given time while DSL is influenced by the distance you are from the nearest switchboard.
* Is that 100 kilobits or kilobytes? Remember, 100 kilobytes is equal to 800 kilobits, which is what an ISP usually measures a connection in. If that's the issue, you'd be receiving just under the advertised limit (1,012 kilobits, or 1MB, per second).
* What speed test are you using? Some are much more reliable than others, and the distance from your location can affect the results. The one I recommend is Bandwidth Place.
* Is that overall speed, upload, or download? Remember, upload speed is always lower than download except in certain circumstances.
Hope this helps,
I am paying for 1012kbpm but speed test all day today show a high of 100kb. I have ran Ewido, Ccleaner, spybot, Adaware, Trend Micro scan and Registry cleaner. Trend Micro scan came up with the trojan "Troy_se.69649" and deleted the infected file. I also switched to Opera browser but nothing seems to help with the internet speed. Any ideas?
