Why is Cnet's site so freaking S L O W ?

Jan 13, 2007 12:12AM PST

Every time I log on to Cnet's site, be it the Home page, Reviews, or Forum, the pages load slower than ANY site I've ever neen to. Firefox is slightly faster, but not much. I know Cnet is a big site, but I've been to other big sites that aren't near as slow. What gives?

There may be many reasons for this.

Here's one.........Think content.

Enter the forums and watch what is being loaded........it's a bunch.

Would you like a treat?

Try using Cnet with dial-up.

I can't imagine using Cnet with dialup. As far as content goes, I know there's alot. There is also a lot on Amazon.com but I never have this problem.

It is almost as bad as dialup and waiting to connect is requiring lotsa patience. Other popular forums are very fast.

Strange,
Jan 16, 2007 2:18AM PST

everything is fine here in the UK.

The forums load in a second or two, and I rarely have a problem with posting messages now. It was different a few weeks ago when they moved over to different servers, but a lot of the teething problems have sorted themselves out now.

Perhaps its different where you are?
