Question

Why is avast acting like new dashlane?

Aug 4, 2016 1:43PM PDT

"To get started create your main password?". This is what i'm seeing when i log in to Avast.First time ive ever seen this. Is Avast cutting into dashlanes ( which i do make use of ) business?Or am i being paranoid? Am i being hacked?

Clarification Request
I'm unclear on your question.

Dashlane ( http://pogue.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/06/06/concerns-about-dashlane-and-answers/?_r=0 ) is just another password manager. I'm not a fan of such things since they give hackers an one stop place to get all your sites, etc. with login information.

Avast is in the middle of an acquisition phase so they may indeed be expanding their system. But many AV suites use new methods to block actions like turning off the AV. The escalation of trojans and more mean you may see a password required to turn off the AV etc.

Thank you for the feed back. This morning all seems back to normal. No asking for password nothing? Perhaps a update or something. Still not sure why it happened tho. Thanks again for the replies.

Avast has many modules that are installed by default.
You might want to review what modules you have installed and if you need them.
I don't use their password feature so that module is not installed.
