Resolved Question

Why have my last two posts disappeared ?

I was in the Spyware, Viruses, & Security forum and made a post about a test Tom’s Guide did comparing six AV's .
The first time I thought that maybe I didn't hit the submit button , the second time , I made sure I did everything correctly .
I went back to the Real Time Forum and the second post showed up and than, Right In Front Of My Eyes , the post disappeared.

Sorry for the confusion Digger..

In reply to: Why have my last two posts disappeared ?

I'm blaming the forums auto filter for your disappearing posts. Given the amount of posts you post in the forums, I'd say you've been pretty luckily until just these past few days. Not sure why, but the auto filter has taken a liking to your recent forum activities and taken a few down. Of course these are false positives and are legit post by you.

Just so you know, this happens occasionally to all members and the filter shows no bias as it has occasionally taken down my posts and our moderators' posts as well.

I apologize to you and all the members who had their post taken down accidentally as a false positive. Usually I will revive the ones that are legit.

Again sorry for the inconvenience and frustrations that this may have caused.

Itsdigger, I've Noticed: Don't Edit A Post Multiple Times

In reply to: P.S. I have always said

If you have the ability to edit a post, and repost it, eventually the forum's SPAM software detects it as SPAM if you do it too many times.. It's as if you're a spammer reposting the same thing over and over and the software will remove it.

Here, if I re-edit a post more than twice, it will get removed.

Hope this helps.

In reply to: Itsdigger, I've Noticed: Don't Edit A Post Multiple Times

This time it was the forums mistake as they would post to Real Time and a minute or so later ,
when the forum refreshed , They disappeared ! And I watched them disappear , and kept
butting in on other folks threads and posting and I watched as all of my posts disappear .
Plus , I never was a great typist , put a tower crane in my hands though and I can make magic Silly

something similar happened to me yesterday

In reply to: Why have my last two posts disappeared ?

I had a couple of posts that disappeared yesterday but reappeared a bit later and after several screen refreshes. thought it was just me.

did you try a different browser just to verify?

Collapse -
No renegade I didn't

In reply to: something similar happened to me yesterday

This never happened to me before . I'm using the latest version of FF.
All of my posts before and after this incident have worked fine.
If mine show up later as you suspect, I'll have to have one removed..

P.S. I read a lot of your posts and think you know your stuff and hand out good info.
Thanks for the education that you and the rest of the member's shell out ...

Never see such issue

In reply to: something similar happened to me yesterday

I am using Chrome and Firefox. Half time VPN is on. I never see such issue.
I guess it is browser cache problem. Or Proxy might do the same because of cache sync off

I've seen this

In reply to: Why have my last two posts disappeared ?

Created a post.
Previewed the post....look good.
Marked the thread as email alert and submitted the post.
A few hours latter got an alert.
Noticed my post was missing from the thread.
The next day my post was now in the thread.

In reply to: I thought maybe

You have tried to add 2 new post to this thread and the filters ate them.

You may have to do some playing around.
Put a post in this thread and see if the filter eats it.
If it does try the same post with a different browser.

Dare I try again? 5th Browser

In reply to: Why have my last two posts disappeared ?

I uninstalled Defender and I purchased Avira for a year to try out.
I am using the Avira Phantom VPN and Avira's Scout Browser . It's chrome based
It took awhile to get the settings right , put it in silent mode to get rid of all of Avira's nags etc....etc.....
SOOOO, Let's see if this post goes through or goes POOF , I think this is the 10th time to try and post,

Hi Dafydd ,

In reply to: Success!

It was getting to be irritating
I don't know what happened , yesterday everything was running good ,than Blammo ! things went awry but cleared up later.

Today I was here off and on since 07:30 to oh, he** I don't remember the time ,but all of the sudden
everything disappeared, I watched them get erased ! Mischief So I had a mission and ended up $ 109 ( I forget how much the taxes were ) lighter in my bank account after purchasing Avira Total Security Suite

I was just bragging about Defender yesterday Grin

We'll see if it keeps running

Strange.

In reply to: Hi Dafydd ,

I'm running Win 10 with Defender using Chrome and Firefox with no problems. I wonder did the VPN cured it. Could be a bug in Cnet, I had a problem a couple of years ago when I couldn't alert..
Dafydd.

It better be

In reply to: That's one he** of a speed.

I'm paying about $10.U.S. for it a month for a year so I had better like it.
Ya know, I had a little conversation with Bob P. yesterday and he said that " I was spoiled " by how I used Defender and have my browser's running tight .
Right after that is when things jazzed up.
I think Bob did it Devil

The VPN speed

In reply to: I dunno Mate

fluctuates drastically , just now it spiked for a few minutes and was reading 942 .64 MB Secured traffic but mow it's reading 681.67 MB so who knows what speeds I'm getting ?
Maybe that's a part of VPN too Confused

VPN = more overhead, more variables.

In reply to: The VPN speed

Not used when speed is the goal. Just like most things, pick 2 from speed, security and low cost.

I think it's happening again

In reply to: VPN = more overhead, more variables.

I just messed up but the post just now entered but didn't show in the Real Time Forum.
Anyway, I saw the part about Overhead and More Variables wondered if it's because the VPN signal is from more than one source so it's source heavy ?

Collapse -
I didn't want you to think

In reply to: VPN = more overhead, more variables.

I wasn't paying attention to your above comment .
I just finished reading a few Very Long and Confusing articles .
I get it now that VPN's aren't for speed and how I lose speed by going through different servers and by maybe traveling to different country's .
The article that was easiest and spelled out in Simple English that even I can understand would be Here
