Why has my hotmail stopped working

Jun 10, 2007 12:39PM PDT

I have two hotmail accounts and for the last 24 hours or more I have not been able to access either one of them. I keep getting the "page not found" message. I've checked with a friend who also has hotmail and he is not having any trouble. Can someone please help me? Thanks.

My system
Jun 10, 2007 1:04PM PDT

Grif,

I use IE (version 6.0) and Firefox (version 2.0.0.4). Neither will load my accounts.

Windows XP home edition.

I went to the java page and after seeing all the downloads available I don't know which to install. Can you suggest one? I already have java on my computer (Java 2) but maybe it got corrupted although I've just come from a site that uses java and it loaded without a problem.

The Java Link I Provided Explains...

...which download link to click on. Please read my instructions again.

Hint: "Click on the link to Sun's Java below, then click on the ''Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6u1'' download button. Follow the prompts, accept the license agreement, then download the full ''Windows Offline Installation'' file to your desktop,"

Hope this helps.

Grif

This sort of thing happens

In order to handle the kind of traffic load Hotmail gets, especially now that Microsoft loaded down the interface with a bunch of additional pointless graphics, there are actually several systems that all share the work load. Depending on which of these systems your particular accounts reside on, you may be unable to access your mail while someone next door has no problems at all.

If the problem persists over 2-3 days, try contacting the Hotmail support staff. There's not a whole lot anyone here can do.
