Why fix a broken iPhone screen is so expensive

I have dropped my iPhone x screen a few days ago. And I contact Apple to repair but they tell me I should pay $280 for it since my phone is out of warranty. It is too expensive for me to repair the broken screen and I just spend $530 to get the second iPhone x on Amazon. Why it is so expensive to repair a broken screen. Later, my friend tells me to contact the three-party repair shop. However, I need to pay the expensive shipping and tax of customs. Cry

There is no repair shop near where you live? That's a pity.
And you didn't pay for an insurance? That's a pity also.

Why do you think $530 is cheaper then $280?

Why isn't your iPhone X within the warranty period?
Not that the broken screen would have been covered anyway, not unless you took out the insurance when you purchased it.

Two Pro tips...

In reply to: Why fix a broken iPhone screen is so expensive

Get the $19 screen protector from Apple when you buy your phone (assuming you get it from Apple) .. they will install it and Belkin insures the screen when it’s installed by Apple.

Skip the Apple Care agreement entirely and just buy your phone with an Amex since they automatically give you a year of insurance on any electronic device after the first year of full coverage that comes with the phone ends.

Edit.. I have never had screen damage but I have had a phone overheat and die.. Amex paid for a brand new replacement from the Apple store without issue
