I am using a Sabrent sata/ide enclosure. The very brief literature says the drive should be recognized by Win7 and offer the opportunity to partition and format the drive on power on boot.
The drive is a brand new unformatted Seagate 1.5 TB sata hd. I am using an esata cable from the computer front panel to the Sabrent. (I have verified the eSata front panel connector on my desktop is connected to my Gigabyte MB. The ext sata hd is internally connected in the external enclosure to the sata data and power connector with the Sabrent supplied short connector cables..
When I power up boot, my internal secondary hard drive is not recognized and the unformatted drive is not recognized. Restarting after without the ext drive connected to restore everything back to normal is agonizingly slow. But I am able to recover.
Chatter on the Internet for folks using this enclosure with IDE drives is very positive. One user using Sata gave up disgusted.
Thanks for responding.
