Why don't I receive spam with Firefox?

Sep 26, 2005 5:15PM PDT

I have switched to Firefox about three months ago. I have not received one spam message since.
With AOL, (Good by, I now have Adelphia), I received daily messages and tons of spam on a daily basis.

I felt so bad that I went to my supermarket today and bought a can of SPAM Lite to try out.

Anyone else notice no spam using Firefox?
Or is it Adelphia? Either one or both, just great!

Kevin,

I never receive spam in my browser (only popups Happy). But I do receive spam in my email-program?

I understand you got a new email-address. It takes the spammers some time to discover that. But they will come. It might be, however, that your new ISP has a spamfilter in place. Ask their helpdesk. You might find a lot of spam already if you visit the spam-folder of your email-account via their webmail. And some non-spam mails they mistook for spam, maybe.

Hope this helps.

I like my spam grilled with cheese on it.

Spam will only come in your email program. But since you have adblock you'll miss those ads you always liked.

With closing I'll tell everyone your email address. It is...

Rick, why do I have to reset Adblock with every new screen? Any way to have Adblock remember the screen or lousy ad?

Off Subject:
Try grilled span and cheese with tomatoes. Just get the spam crispy. You could even add some lettuce and mayo.
Now I'm getting hungry?

And then tell it not to notify you when it is updated.

and which browser do you use?
which browser leaves your signature lying around for the spam to stick too?

if i use IE for about 2-3 hours a week, adaware and spybot have to work over-time

surf for a week with FF and there is nothing to clean out

Kees, Using Firefox, and Adelphia email would have been better for me to use.
No matter?NO SPAM! For now, that is. Until the idiots figure out my email address.
Speaking of that, does Adelphia-Firefox-Thunderbird-etc, ever prevent spam for real?? Does anything really work or is is just bull?
I had AOL and received daily doses because I have a Mac. The AOL filter does not work with the Mac OS.

On the lighter side, and off subject: I do like fried SPAM and eggs. My son liked fried SPAM and honey sandwiches or with Maple syrup. I tried the SPAM and Maple syrup sandwich. Good!
Kees, try it. Yum!
SPAM and cheese? Never tried that combo.
Here is a great combo that is a true from one of my friends. Peanutbutter and sardines sandwich!!!
Kees, not interested? If you were starving, you would eat anything. Even SPAM and Cheese Whizz.

I have Cox use IE6, every week i clean out 100+ spam items. Funny thing is that I have NEVER used this account for anything. I have AOL, my wife and I are on about a dozen mail lists. Spam count: today i deleted 1 spam item. I maybe get half dozen a week.
Just my 2 cents worth.

Obviously, you are one of the very lucky ones.Spam filters for AOL only work for and with the PC. I am on a Mac and the filters are not and were not available while being an AOL member.
Thanks,

col klink, You are one of the fortunates to have Cox and the big Blue. You have a PC and that's the only OS that AOL and America Online helps out. AOL does not care about Mac users.
Mac users are about 15% of the system users in the world so far. That's why I dumped AOL.
Another reason is that their system resources and hardware are lousy. Try going on-line during peak hours. Cannot read your emal? Cannot access? Get bumped off all the time? Also happens with PC users. ?Try again later? about 11:00PM EST.

Want to receive technical help?
Try the tech support from Bombay India. That will help you a lot. Just be prepared to talk to them in a quiet room. Reeaalllly hard to understand their language!
Each tech support gives you a different answer to your question.
Wonderful with SPAM blockage because most cannot get to AOL during peak times. Not on line? No SPAM! Cannot access your email? No SPAM. Complain about their service? The answer is simple from Bombay India?
Do a clean install and start over. It is your system that is wrong. Follow our directions and everything will be guaranteed! Right! Yah, about two days worth!
If that.

Just a thought on my part: I am an EX-AOL prisoner for seven years. Joined Adelphia. Downloaded Mozilla Firefox and am enjoying the net like I have never enjoyed it before. Try it!
So far, after having Adelphia email along with Firefox as ny browser, I have not had one SPAM mail.
Still wonder why not? I was so used to it with AOL.

col klink, check out the Browsers forum frequently.
Also Communications forum.
Really good forums for us all. Live and learn.
