Why don't I have drawing toolbar? Word 2003

Okay, I have been using this Wd 2003 software for years and just today decided to go to the Drawing toolbar at the bottom (Autoshapes/Draw) and use the Connectors shapes. I don't have connectors!!! They're not activated. I wanted to draw them on the blank screen....they can't be used. Why not? thanks.
