Why doesn't Apple....

Mar 6, 2006 8:20AM PST

create its own gaming division? The big reason that people don't switch to macs is lack of software/games. If Apple can release one flagship game, similar to what Halo did for the Xbox, then tons of gamers will switch to macs. They should put more money into developing good, original games that you can't get for a PC. That would drive a lot of gamers to Macs and make exsting mac users much happier.

Oddly enough

Halo was originally supposed to be a Mac-only game, or at least released first on the Mac. Many Macintosh fans were really annoyed when Microsoft came along and bought it up for the Xbox.

Apple Gaming

I agree with you, but i do think that they should add current PC games, and upcoming to their gaming line-up, to get whole family's to convert to a mac system. Because as more people like to play computer games, the game choice will influence which system they pick.

Knowing how influential games are in selling computers to the home market, I've never understood why Apple doesn't establish some division that provides programmers to port PC games to the Mac.

They would be intimate with the Mac OS and optimize the code for the Mac OS. Heck, Apple could probably even work out some sort of licensing fee for every unit sold if they are paying for the conversion. It's money the game company isn't making otherwise.

I'm sure I'm way underestimating the work involved but it seems like it would be worth the effort, even if it required a couple hundred programmers.

They should!

The only reason i'm in doubt about buying a macbook pro is that i play a lot of games. And I know tons of people hwo say the same thing. they loce the design and feel of a mac but cant play their favorite games.

It's not the OS people are afraid off.

It's the beutifull sleek gameing machine that apple built, but you cant use! (look at dell their xps notebook is huge and ugly)

More mac games should be made. HL2 Grin

Before I switched I thought the same thing

Actually I switched as soon as nanosaur came out....

not.

I just kept my ''tower of power'' PC around for games. I agree though. If they seriously took on gaming I think that there wouldn't really be much excuse not to. I guess there will still be my personal fav though-- the asinine ''one-button-mouse'' excuse. It's much harder to deal with...

...if don't know how to plug things in.
