Why does the font size change

by jmatzick / September 30, 2006 9:02 AM PDT

Every now and then, the font size on web pages I'm reading changes. Not while I'm reading but after I close and then go back. It will go back and forth between small and medium.
Win XPpro IE 7
thanks.

you've inadvertently pressed the CTRL key and moved the mouse wheel a notch in either direction without realizing it?

I don't ever rely on the Tools/Options method and instead always use the fast CTRL/mouse wheel...then it sticks all the time to what I want from site to site.

Sometimes, you'll find that some websites FORCE the font size on you in their coding and there isn't much you can do about that, but if the same site keeps changing on you, I'd use the keyboard/mouse trick to force IE to hold it to what you prefer.

I use a M$ WL IntelliMouse Explorer optical mouse at work. Unlike your typical wheel mice where you can tell how many times you scrolled even with your eyes closed, due to in part you can feel resistant soft "clicks" and hear audible soft "clicks" as well, this mouse wheel is pratically as smooth as a volume dial. Whenever i change font size using ctrl+scroll whell, I end up just checking view-->text size anyways to double check that it moved 2 and not 3+ slots.

John, You may also want to Open Internet Explorer>Tools>Internet Options under the General tab click the Accessability button and under Formatting uncheck everything, click OK/Apply/OK.
