Question

Why does SP1 keep installing?

Oct 28, 2011 10:08PM PDT

I already have SP1 installed and I don't use Live whatever, so why does it keep re-downloading and installing? It must have done that 20 times already at 1.5MB each time and it is always installing when I shut my PC down.

Here is a very good guide for installing SP1.

SP1 probably didn't completely install. Go to MyComputer>rt click and select Manage>select Services and Applications>Services>scroll down to Windows Update>Stop or Disable. Rt click and select Properties>startup type>disable. Once you have SP1 downloaded, Install it in Safe Mode if you can.

- SP1 of what? With 1.5 MB it can't be Windows 7.
- If you don't use Live whatever, then why did you install it?
- In IE, go to Tools>Windows update and hide this recurring update. It will be silenced forever.

I didn't install it. It seems to have installed as part of the whole Windows 7 or the prior one (XP) and now I'm trying to get rid of it because it just keeps downloading and installing each time I turn the PC off.

I'm still trying and I will go into the registry and see if it's lurking there.
