Question

Why does my updated Firefox say:Firefox 16.o.2 Yahoo Edition

Nov 10, 2012 5:40AM PST

When I got the message pop-up to update my Firefox browser I did it without question. Now my standard gmail will not open more than 3/4 of the way so I end up using basic email. I do have dial-up but have used Standard most of the time in the past. SO my question is two-fold: Why does Yahoo have a place on the browser and what is wrong with my Standard email?
If you can help, thank you. Jo
