Question

Why does my muting via keyboard break the sound on my laptop

by kscaife / November 7, 2015 3:13 PM PST

Hi

I know very little about computers, so will try to privovide as much info as I can!

I am using a Lenovo M30-70 laptop with Windows 10. I have had the laptop for a few months now and at first, everything was fine. But now, when I use the mute key on the keyboard, when I turn the sound back on, it doesn't work. I have to restart my laptop to fix the problem!

I have checked all of the sound settings and everything seems fine, so please could somebody help me with this?

Thank you in advance.

Answer
A few things I try.

My first stop is Lenovo's web page for my exact model. I'll check to see if there is a driver for my laptop's chipset and audio. Next I might see if there is some keyboard enhancer (this app varies wildly by name but it is what connects the keyboard to mute controls.)

Thanks very much for the advice!

It turns out there was driver that needed to be installed due to the windows 10 update. Everything is working great now Grin

Thanks again!

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
