The "powersave" is something the monitor displays and not the PC. Even though you didn't tell this, I understand because many folk report this. All it means is that Windows didn't get to the point where it fired up the display card.
In parting, let's hope you are not accepting drivers from Microsoft.

My PC auto updated on the 17th November 2012 since then my PC won't run up. It gets as far as the test page and then goes into power safe mode and won't run up. I have to force it to shut down. It kept doing the same in safe mode until I gave the tower a clean out with mild compressed air. All is ok when I take it back to a restore point through safe mode but have had to cancel all auto updating from Microsoft until I can resolve the problem. Help me please!
