Both! Long story short, they draw you in by showing large numbers of errors and viruses following a free analysis of your system and then recommend that you have a "microsoft" technician manually remove the "trojans". They offer to provide the technician.
Then they have you go to...logmein123....so the technician can both remove the viruses and speed up the computer. It was while waiting for the technician that I noticed they were downloading from my hard disk without advising me. When I tried to disconnect, I was blocked and it just kept going. I finally logged off the connection and requested a refund which has neither been refunded or even acknowledged.(See below)
Belatedly and backwards, I then began to do my "due diligence" and discovered that it is a huge scam. If you Google "cyberdefender scam" or "cyberdefender virus" you will see what I mean. I am so embarassed that I got taken in like that and yet they are on CNET and BBB gave them a B and there were 100% satisfaction guarantees and ads on TV channels like CNBC(DoubleMySpeed.com.
I made the mistake of assuming if they were on CNET and other reputable places that they must be ok. Not true!!!

Re:Refund Request and my Confidential Information Compromised!

Dear Sir
I am requesting a cancellation and refund on the following two products, as per your 100% Satisfaction Risk Free Guarantee. I was unsatisfied with both the product and the tech service.
In addition, I have an even more disturbing concern, and that is that my personal and business banking info, along with my personal identity info, has been compromised, by being downloaded from my computer's hard disk. At no time was I advised that my confidential information, or that any information, was being downloaded from my computer.
I was advised that logmein123 needed to be set up so that a "Microsoft" technician could install the CyberDefender program on my computer. During the logmein123 session, info from my hard disk and certain other locations on my computer, was downloaded without my initial knowledge or permission. It was only as I attempted to log off of logmein123, that I realized what was happening, and then was repeatedly blocked from exiting the logmein123 program.
Please advise whether this is a CyberDefender policy, or were these the actions of a rogue employee. This occured yesterday,Thursday, March 10/11 at approximately 5:00pm PST. I am concerned that not only has my privacy, and personal identity info, been compromised, but also that my proprietary business and Corporate information may have been compromised as well. I am not prepared to accept that this type of "computer invasion" is a legitimate business practice. In fact, this is the very thing I was trusting your products to protect me against.
