Why do I hear background music but not voices on DVD's?

by wildchyld / July 5, 2009 3:09 PM PDT

I have a Samsung HT-TZ512 Home Theater System hooked up to a Sony Bravia KDL-52V5100 & when I play DVDs, I can hear the previews that are on the rented DVDs & music and all, but when the actual movie starts playing, you can barely hear the voices. Has anybody had any problems with this? I'm thinking something is wrong w/ the HTS.

Why do I hear background music but not voices on DVD's?

wildchyld,

Check the wiring connection (both on the receiver and the speaker itself) for the center channel speaker. That's where most of the voices come out of in a surround sound configuration.

Keep me posted.

That's where the problem was. Our center speaker wire was bad. Now, we've fixed that problem and should be able to hear voices & surround sound and everything we're supposed to hear. Thanks again Mr. Samsung. I knew I could count on you.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
