Question

why do i have a "no signal" on my HDMI channel ?

Feb 8, 2015 1:47AM PST

I have a chromecast device attached to my tx42a400 tv

my chrome cast is only one month old and worked on a sony bravia tv
I have just purchased a Panasonic tv and plugged in the chrome cast to a vacant hdmi port set up the chrome cast and all I got was a blank screen saying "no signal"
I changed over the hdmi port (thinking it was the port)
but the hdd I have in the other port worked and the chrome cast still did not, so I factory reset the chrome cast
still not working
any advice could be useful

Or 2.

1. I came across a client that forgot to connect the power to the Chromecast.
2. Sometimes we have to unplug all HDMI things, then power off, remove power to the set for 10 minutes to let the HDMI chips reset.

Again, a failure in the industry why this is required at times. It's not a Samsung thing but an Intel and industry bent on copy protection of the HDMI link. Result? Failures that should never happen.

Sounds like USB power isn't up to it.

hi Bob

yeeehaaa

thanks very much Bob, as I said I had plugged the chrome cast into the HDMI socket and the power lead into the USB, but when it didn't work I thought it may be a power issue, so used the power lead to the plug socket, but still no joy,
Today was the first chance I had to play with it and did what you said, thought I would leave all the leads plugged in first and just turn off at the wall socket, went away for about an hour came back, plugged in and switched the switch. power on and straight away got the chrome cast page......fantastic.....

I do have a suggestion for you though, apply to Panasonic as a fault finder, your suggestion was 100% better than their answer which was to try a different HDMI cable

any way problem solved thanks again

After you've sniffed out a few like these you know that TV USB power is not a sure thing. Glad to read it worked.
