Why do I get notifications for my own posts?

Mar 28, 2011 11:26PM PDT

Hi,
When I start a topic, and after every subsequent post I make in the thread, I get an email notification which makes me thing "Ooh, I got a response". Well no, it's just my own post. Your site is the only one that has it set up that way. It also counts my original post in the number of posts, so if I'm in an impatient mood and have a window open showing the topic page, I have to remember the counter that shows number of posts counts mine, not the first answer to it. I know it isn't the end of the world kind of annoyance, but when I'm waiting to get an answer to a problem, it's disappointing to see that it's just my post the notification is for. It is also quite delayed.

It's a known limitation...

In short, it didn't always be that way, but it was a limitation introduced when the forums were moved to CNET's own forum software due to time constraints in getting it done. It'll be addressed eventually, but unfortunately it sounds like it's not an easy fix, so it may take some time before they get around to it.

No big deal, just a minor annoyance Wink
