Why do I get emails that are addressed to someone else?
Granted, the addresses are similar but ***?!?!?!??!

I use yahoo.

Email spoofing may occur in different forms, but all have a similar result: a user receives email that appears to have originated from one source when it actually was sent from another source.

This is not what I was referring to.

I'm getting emails that are addressed to someone else and yet for some reason they are being re-routed to MY inbox.

Example:

The header reads:

To: scotty123

and my address is actually scotty187

Still a spoof. The address to and mail to don't have to match.

The SMTP protocol allows it.

There could be thousands of addressees, and you or they will be BCC. You'll never see all the recipients. Just delete the emails, do not reply. If you get another email from the same sender, use the Message Rules to block the sender.
