Why do C/NET forums not show items read

May 30, 2005 5:41PM PDT

While I am reading a forum and I go on to the next item, clicking next or next unread message, it shows items read. However when email notifications of forum updates arrive, I have to guess and read a few entries before I find my spot. What am I doing wrong?
Unrelated to above, I was just wondering why there is no spell check available and it seems to be really needed.

What are we paying here?

Some features would cost money. Such as spellchecking.

As to mark/nomark and the logic of read/not read, it is working and you have to read the fine statements about how it works. Very strange until it dawns on you.

In closing, this thread is in the wrong forum. It's off topic and belongs in the Forum Feedback forum.

I don't use the e-mail thing

so here's a maybe.

I find a thread I want to follow.
I read some number of post in that thread.
I bookmark the thread.
I click on e-mail notify.
I get an e-mail that says there's an update.
I click on my bookmark.
I'm back to the thread and it shows what has been read and what has not been read.

Or maybe not, play with it.
