Why did my unlocked Moto G 4 LTE not comew/video player

Feb 25, 2015 5:56AM PST

I just purchased through Motorola the MOTO G 4 (LTE) and when I tried to watch a video I got a prompt saying I needed to download "MX player". Before downloading the MX player I did download Real Player Cloud hoping that that would be enough to play the movie and still it would not run movie till "MX player" was downloaded. Plus, wondering why the phone did not come with a video player in it?

It's not a PC and even PCs don't come with say Flash.

I'm guessing you are coming from an Apple iPhone which for the most part is more of a just works phone.

For me I used VLC Player for my android phone and for web sites that haven't caught up with the times Chrome.

Thank you, but I am confused to
Feb 25, 2015 7:40AM PST

why when other people I know used a couple apps to stream movies and mirror to tv via chromecast that they could just use like Allcast with the movie app without having to add a video player. That is why I am confused and wondering why I needed to take extra steps to enable phone to play movie.

Are you asking about Samsung's All cast disaster?
Feb 25, 2015 8:32AM PST

That would take a long time to explain. In short, DRM has a lot to do with this. So there it is, the players and studios want it to be locked down so there will be devices that won't play along.

Because there is a chance of leaking content.

Allcast doesn't work everywhere on every android.

DRM is well, a long standing term so I admit I used it without definition to see where you are in the tech world. Let's just say that Android is the new Windows. It's not unusual to have to load other apps and then for failures like Allcast. I'm not writing Allcast always fails but unless they think the link is secure and more, it doesn't work. Advice? Use something else as Samsung has no reason to fix it.

That being the case, what about?

What about Web Cast? I had to use that in conjunction with All Cast, download the movie in order for it to play from the movie app. And of course I had to download MC Player to get the movie to play as I had mentioned before. What is the difference over VLC player verses MX player? Hope I am not taking up to much of your time and I do so appreciate your input and information seeing I am just a inquiring lay person. Living on my own I have had to research things more than the average girl. lol
