Question

Why can't I make bluetooth work on iPhone 6?

Aug 5, 2016 3:22PM PDT

I just recently bought a Cuatro Bluetooth speaker. I was easily able to pair it with my iPad, but can't seem to with my iPhone 6. Any suggestions?

The problem I run into

Is when the old device is still paired or the owner forgot to tell the speaker to get into pairing mode.

Try the old turn the bluetooth off and on on the phone too.

iPhone Bluetooth, no go.

This is the first time I've tried Bluetooth on the iPhone. As I said, it paired with the iPad instantly and I've already used it. On the iPhone, the circle next to devices just keeps turning and turning. I tried turning on and off on both, but now luck. What's next??

What I didn't read

Is that you put the speakers into pairing mode. It's possible that if there is nothing paired it would start in pairing mode but let's hear the exact model of this speaker or just supply a web link to it's manual.

iPhone Pairing
Aug 5, 2016 8:37PM PDT

Don't really have a manual, just a little folded paper, but the model is"URGE Basics Cuatro Portable Wireless Bluetooth 4.0 Speak" which I got on Amazon. What I finally did after trying to pair it was plug in the supplied aux cable in the speaker in and iPhone out and the sound is great . I mostly want it to listen to music on my sun porch, so if I don't get it paired, this will do. It does seem weird that it paired so easily with the iPad. Somewhere it said that it can't be paired to two devices so I went far away from the iPad and tried it again on the iPhone, but it still didn't work.

Sounds to me it's the old

"Can't get the speaker into pairing mode." issue.

My bet is that out of the box it was in pairing mode. Once paired, it sees no need to be in that mode and the instructions to do so would be in the manual. But if not in the manual I'll have to call the speaker defective due to the lack of documentation.

Dumb!
Aug 6, 2016 10:55AM PDT

After all these years of answering questions for me, it's probably not a surprise that sometimes I'm pretty dumb! When I first got the speaker, I paired it with the iPad, but then decided I really wanted it on the iPhone. But, of course, I didn't turn off the Blue Tooth on the iPad. I just did that an of course, the iPhone connected immediately. Sorry to waste your time with my sometimes, not all the time, dumbness.

best, Peggy

My iPad

Would alert me the bluetooth was off when I went to pairing so my mistake to write to turn that on.

My bad.
