One I use a lot when that happens is called GPARTED. It runs from CD or USB and the GUI is nice enough that you should avoid erasing the wrong drive.
Bob
The drive is a 320 GB Seagate.
I received it because it wasn't being recognized by windows and, for some reason, my friends think I can fix these things.
Anyway, the drive wasn't being recognized so I ended up taking it out of the case and hooking it up with a USB/SATA adapter. Now the drive shows up under Disk Management as uninitialized, but when I try to initialize it, I get an error "the system cannot find the file specified."
I've been googling things like crazy for a few days now and nothing seems to help, so any help I could get with this problem would be great!
Also, I'm on Windows 7 if that helps at all.
Thanks!
