Resolved Question

Why can I only play one song at a time?

Feb 8, 2013 7:25PM PST

I cannot play an album or a playlist. I have to play a song at a time. If I select an album & press play, nothing happens. If I select a song and press play, the song plays but will not advance to the next song automatically or by pressing the >> option. Have I unwittingly selected a setting or is my version of ITunes corrupted.

Make sure you have a check mark

in the little box next to each track.

iTunes will only advance to a track that has this check mark next to its name

I'm an idiot!

So, after unchecking songs to (not) load to a IPhone or IPod, one needs to go back & recheck songs to play normally on the MAC ITunes. I feel like I am someone's Grandpa. Wait! I am!

you might want to try this method,

Create a playlist for your iPhone and/or iPod.

Move all the tracks that you want to be on those devices, into the playlist. Make sure the check marks are in.

Connect the device and under the music tab, choose the "Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres" option"
Put a check mark in the box next to your newly created playlist in the Playlist window and you will be good to go.

At the next sync, only those tracks that are in the playlist will go to the iDevice, complete with checkmarks, leaving you to play tracks from your library without bothering to add/remove the checkmarks.
