Why are there no new DLP sets?

Dec 15, 2005 11:58PM PST

I am looking to buy a DLP set. I also looked last year around football playoff time and I saw a lot more choices for DLP sets. Why are there so few options now? Are they coming out with a new chip set? Best Buy indicated that they have a model year change over but I'm not sure that is what it is. Anyone know why there are so few DLP sets out there?

LCoS kills DLP, and most plasmas.

True story.

A rep for TI came into my store about two weeks ago. He had his clipboard and was making a list of my TVs that have his DLP chip. I watched him for a few minutes then went over and asked if he had seen the new Sony LCoS. He looked at me, then his clipboard, said "Yes", and turned around and walked off.
